Workout Routine Revamp

Concerning lifting lately, I have been doing a lot of assorted whatever. During that whatever last Thursday I hit a new Deadlift record of 5x315 which is pretty excellent. Now I am going to see if I can strictly follow a plan through the busy season at work where I normally give up. To give myself some structure I am going to stick to the 5/3/1 routine since I’ve had this book sitting around for years and have only dabbled in it in the past.

What’s going on around here?

As part of my take all of the classes and learn all of the things initiative I read up on HTML5 and decided to redesign my dormant website and convert it into a blog. I’ll post things that I make as well as some archived artwork and designs to build a portfolio since I haven’t kept up to date on mine for the past few years. How exciting.

HTML5 is pretty awesome

I’m back to doing Starting Strength again and taking Introduction to Databases and Machine Learning classes provided by Stanford Engineering for free online. Pretty awesome of them. I’m also taking CS106A - Introduction to Computer Science with Ashley for fun and powering through the Lynda tutorials on a variety of things.

D&D Module: Lox, Stock, and Rolls

Something from back in February~

Aesop’s Bagels has suddenly gained incredible popularity, thanks to a new secret ingredient being used by Aesop, a mysterious figure in the world of confectioners and bakers. He rose in influence suddenly and become an instant hit with his secret recipes, which were positively addictive. His cakes and bagels are some of the most well known in the world and you’ve always wanted to try some. Unfortunately trouble is baking and Aesop’s Bagels just received failing marks on the annual safety inspection. Aesop and his bakery are at risk of being banished to the astral plane. Rumor has it that pests have overrun the bakery and and as connoisseurs of cleanliness, your assistance has been requested. You figure it will be a piece of cake.

“Felix qui potuit rerum cognoscere causas” is latin for “Fortunate is he who has been able to learn the causes of things.” I feels that this thought accurately depicts the type of person I am. A solution isn't always crystal clear and it's important to first find out how something works and then develop a better way to do it.

The first step in creating a great product isn't a stunning photograph or a clever headline. It's a concept: a broad notion of how to engage the user's mind to deliver a message or a service, that is why I understand that 2+2 simply doesn't always equal 4. “2+2=4” is true for certain definitions of “2”, “+” “=" and “4” and false for other definitions, for example, adding 2 raindrops to 2 raindrops does not give 4 raindrops, mixing 2 liters of water with 2 liters of alcohol does not yield 4 liters of liquid and if you break a crumb in half, you don't get two half crumbs, you get two crumbs.

Words or signs rarely have meanings independent of other words and signs. Whether a statement is true or not depends upon what it means, and what it means depends upon its context—especially the context of its interconnectedness with other words or signs--and the background against which the meaning of the words and signs are learned.

It's all about the concept.
